Informational meeting on proposed sand mining operation set for October 16 in New Albin

An informational meeting discussing the sand mining operation being proposed for location on property owned by Dave Mitchell about five miles southwest of New Albin in Allamakee County has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 16 at 6 p.m. at the New Albin Community Center. Representatives of Minnesota Sand Company, LLC, including project engineer Geoff Griffin, will be on hand to explain what the operation will entail and answer questions from the public. A public hearing on a conditional use permit application for the operation before the Allamakee County Board of Adjustment has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 24 at 4:30 p.m. in the large courthroom at the Allamakee County Courthouse in Waukon.
