JOSH TWEEDY SELECTED TO RUN IN IATC SENIOR SPOTLIGHT MEET

Waukon Indian graduated senior Josh Tweedy has been selected as a member of the Iowa All-Stars who will compete in the Iowa Association of Track Coaches’ Senior Spotlight Track and Field Meet this Saturday, June 10 at Loras College in Dubuque. Tweedy will be competing in the 4x800 relay for the Iowa team, combining his talents with those of fellow seniors Mitch Anderson of Mount Pleasant, D.J. Schnenk of Monticello, and Justin Schlicker of Ankeny in that relay event.
The Senior Spotlight Meet is in just its second year of existence, and it is a meet which features the top track and field seniors from across the state of Iowa in competition with the top track and field seniors from Nebraska, Illinois and Wisconsin. The teams are each comprised of the respective state’s top senior track and field athletes, with these athletes being nominated for the honor by virtue of their qualifying performances for their state meets and their performances at those state meet.s
“This is a tremendous honor for Josh, and it is definitely deserved,” Waukon boys track coach Harlan Heidelbauer said. “If you look at the athletes competing, not one of the half-milers selected has a qualifying time of higher than 1:56, so you know these are truly the elite track and field competitors, especially the half-milers. This is a climax to a great senior season and a great career for Josh. We are definitely very proud of what he's accomplished and what he’s helped us accomplish.”
Tweedy will compete in that 4x800 relay at approximately 12:20 p.m. Saturday, June 10.
