Kathleen “Kay” Pauley, age 89, of Elgin, Ill., and formerly of Lansing, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Heritage Manor in Elgin. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 2, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing with Fr. Daniel Knipper officiating. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery in Lansing. Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Kathleen was born in Great Falls, Mont., December 4, 1915, to Bernard and Catherine (McCarthy) Hurley. She attended St. Mathew’s School in Kalispell, Mont., and Oilmont School in Oilmont, Mont., graduating from high school in 1934. She then attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in Minot, N.D., graduating as a registered nurse in 1938. Kathleen worked many years in Wisconsin and Illinois.
Kathleen married Harold Pauley on March 12, 1945, and they lived many years in Gages Lake, Ill., before moving to Lansing in 1964.
She is survived by one daughter, JoAnn (Michael) Wilkiel of Elgin and one sister, May Green of Shelby, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold on January 3, 1984, and a sister and a brother.
Casketbearers were the Knights of Columbus St. George Council #12244.
