by Teela Hammell

The Lady Hawks basketball team endured a bumpy ride last week on the court. The Hawks kicked off the week by facing Turkey Valley Monday, Jan. 31. Unfortunately, the Trojans prevailed and walked away with a 52-58 victory.
The Lady Hawks put forth one of their best efforts and kept the game very close from start to finish. Although defeated, Kee played well overall, offensively and defensively.
Chandran Duffy led the Hawks offensively with 21 points. Jenny Becker accumulated 14 points, while Liz Becker, Brigitte Brennan, and Brookelyn Conway contributed five points apiece.
Jenny Becker was a leader defensively, as well. She tore down 11 boards and scooped up five steals. Melissa Manning also contributed to the effort with three steals.

Kee recovered quickly from the loss and defeated North Crawford the very next day, 62-50.
The game started off on a high note for the Hawks. Duffy drained four out of four three-pointers within the first quarter, and she didn't stop there.
Throughout the game, she managed to attain 33 points for the Hawks, and a career high. Out of the 11 three-pointers Duffy attempted she made eight. Not only did Duffy have an outstanding three-point percentage to celebrate, but to top it all off she had her sixteenth birthday to celebrate as well.
Liz Becker contributed eight points to the scoreboard also. Jenny Becker led the Hawks defensively yet again, ripping down eight rebounds and scooping up six steals.

As Thursday, Feb. 3 rolled around it was obvious that the Lady Hawks' positive momentum was running out. Consequently, Kee was defeated, 53-56, by MFL/MarMac.
The Lady Hawks were good competition for MFL. In fact, by halftime Kee was leading by a point. The two teams went into the final quarter with the scoreboard reading 42-42.
In the remaining minutes of the game, MFL's aggression skyrocketed, causing Kee's downfall.
Chandran Duffy led the Hawks offensively for the third game in a row. Duffy contributed 22 points, Brigitte Brennan managed ten, and Liz Becker added eight.
Jenny Becker and Brennan led the Hawks defensively against MFL. Brennan brought down seven boards while Becker helped out with five. Brennan and Becker each snatched four steals apiece.
The Lady Hawks' next game is scheduled for Feb. 10 at home against North Fayette.
