As part of her announcement as a Republican candidate for Allamakee County Auditor, Lana Deeney Snitker will attend the meet and greet event for 2012 Republican candidates to be held at the Farm Bureau Building in Waukon Sunday, April 29.
The daughter of Tom and Diana Deeney, Snitker grew up in Waukon. She has six siblings, Leah, Charles, James, Joey, John and Matt. She and her husband of 12 years, Dustan, have four children, Kaedan, Meridian, Kyrie and Jared.
Snitker says she enjoys volunteering her time and staying active with their children. They are involved with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and sports activities offered through Waukon Park and Recreation and Waukon Swim Club. She says that she truly enjoys what the community has to offer her family.
After graduating from Waukon High School in 1988, Snitker attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in Accounting with a minor in Spanish. Part of her education included a study-abroad program in Valladolid, Spain. She is currently licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (Inactive) in Minnesota and Iowa.
Snitker has worked in public accounting in Iowa and Minnesota for eight years and in the private sector for seven and a half years. Her work experience includes governmental accounting, auditing and reporting. She has assisted with several county, city and school audits.
Snitker is currently a second deputy for the Allamakee County Treasurer’s Office. She also serves as Secretary and Treasurer for the St. Patrick Thrift Store and has also led St. Patrick Parish and St. Patrick School in fundraising events. Another favorite employment opportunity was her job as a Census Enumerator for the United States Census Bureau. She says she has met many interesting people and enjoys the interaction with the public.
“My background and education motivated me to run for Allamakee County Auditor. I feel it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to run for a political office. I am honored to offer my time and talents for public service,” said Snitker.
