Letter to the Standard’s Editor

To the Editor:

This letter is in regard to our newly remodeled library in Lansing. WOW, what a difference a year makes! We now have a facility that the children, elderly, and general population of this community can utilize in so many different ways. If you have not stopped in to see this magnificent building, I urge you to do so soon.

This community is thankful for the generous contributions from Mr. Richard Meehan, which started the ball rolling on this project. Additional contributions from the community and grants soon increased the funding to a level that allowed the remodeling to begin.

We must recognize the overwhelming commitment and vision of the Library Board and Librarian. The new library is a testimonial to each of these fine people. Without their commitment and determination we would not have one of the finest library’s in the area.

Do you know who your library board members and staff are? Jim Wellendorf, Rita Heim, Mary Schweitzer, Tom Novak, Edith Hogan, Ruth Peters and Millie Richards are members of the board. Mable Stahl is the Librarian. Many kudos to each of you.

I hope the community will continue to support the library. The library is nearly completed and has a small outstanding balance due. I urge citizens of this community to open their hearts and pocketbooks and help pay off this balance. It doesn’t need to be a large donation. If enough of us contribute, this wonderful new library will be ours, free and clear of debt.

Respectfully yours,

Shirley M. Henderson
