Louis Nguyen of Waukon High School selected for 2013 All-State Chorus

Louis Nguyen, a senior at Waukon High School, has attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as a member of the 2013 All-State Chorus. He is the son of Lori Reyes of Waukon and is a vocal music student of Adrienne Gerst at Waukon High School.
The 2013 Festival will celebrate the 67th anniversary of this prestigious event. District auditions for the 281-piece All-State Band, 201-piece All-State Orchestra and 602-member All-State Chorus were held October 26 at Storm Lake, Hampton, Manchester, Harlan, Indianola and Fairfield. Approximately 17% of the students who audition are selected for membership in the All-State Ensembles.
Participants will rehearse in Ames November 22-23 and the festival concert will be presented to the public at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 23 in Hilton Coliseum on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames. Iowa Public Television will record the concert for re-broadcast, that schedule being available online at www.iptv.org. The All-State program is under the auspices of the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa Music Educators Association.
