New Albin Days to be celebrated this weekend

This year’s New Albin Days celebration will be held this weekend, Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1. The festival grounds will open at 5 p.m. Friday and opening ceremonies will be held at 5:30 p.m., including the Little Miss New Albin pageant. Maiden Dixie will provide live entertainment Friday night from 8 p.m. until midnight.
Saturdays events include a classic car show (registration from 8-10 a.m. and awards presented at 12:30 p.m.), a parade at 2 p.m. and fireworks at dusk. Other activities throughout the day Saturday include mural painting for kids from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., kids’ games from 3-5 p.m., waterball from 3-6 p.m., a live performance by Megan Vinson from 4-6 p.m., a bean bag tournament at 5 p.m., a kids’ sandpile at 6 p.m. and a live performance by WhistleJacks from 8 p.m. to midnight.
