New director for HAWC

HAWC Partnership for Children, specializing in services for children ages 0-5 and assisting parents to meet the basic needs of children of all ages in Howard, Allamakee, Winneshiek and Clayton counties, announces that Mike Bergan will be the new director.

Bergan has been a HAWC executive board member and shown significant interest in the work and accomplishments of the collective efforts in the communities of northeast Iowa. Bergan brings with him the strength of knowledge and contact with many people of the area to continue to assist the HAWC Partnership for Children in their vision and mission.

Bergan will lead the HAWC Partnership for Children’s initiatives as they focus on children, youth and families: Healthy Children and Youth, Safe and Nurturing Families, Children Ready to Succeed in School, Secure and Nurturing Child Care Environments, and Safe and Supportive Communities.

Bergan received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and Economics from Luther College and has served as a Winneshiek County Supervisor. He has served on many local and state service boards: Iowa Mental Health; Mental Retardation, Developmental Disabilities, and Brain Injury Commission; State of Iowa Empowerment Board; Iowa State Association of County Supervisors Executive Board of Directors; Northeast Iowa Mental Health Center Board of Directors; Spectrum Industries Board of Directors; HAWC Partnership for Children Board of Directors; and the Winneshiek County Solid Waste Agency.
