Norplex-Micarta selected as first Cloy Kuhse Positive Impact Award recipient by ACED

The Allamakee County Economic Development (ACED) Board of Directors have chosen Norplex-Micarta of Postville as the first Cloy Kuhse Positive Impact Award winner. Announcement of the inaugural presentation of the annual award was made at the ACED Annual Banquet in September.
Norplex is one of the largest employers in Allamakee County with 185 employees, provides a positive work environment, above average wages, community support and a strategic commitment to retain and attract new business and protect employee jobs. Norplex has engaged leaders and staff that are focused on the safety and health of their employees and work environment.
“We are so honored to be able to have Norplex in Allamakee County and to have a trusted working relationship with them,” stated Laura Olson, ACED Executive Director. "I believe Cloy would be proud of our choice to give Norplex this designation."
Norplex was nominated for the award by Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC), and in that nomination there is a statement that really struck the ACED board. It reads: "There are probably many other examples of how Norplex-Micarta and its team are providing positive impact and serving as a positive role model that are not noted here, but those who have been impacted by Norplex-Micarta know. Just like Cloy Kuhse was a quiet impactful influence on Allamakee County, impacting lives every day in his personal way, we believe Norplex-Micarta is doing the same. They are not looking for the spotlight or wanting to stand out, they are quietly making a major difference to individuals’ lives and within the community."
The Cloy Kuhse Positive Impact Award is an annual designation that is announced at the ACED annual dinner each fall. The only requirements for the award are that nominees must be a company or organization (no individuals), they are located in Allamakee County, and that they have made a positive difference in some way.
Nomination forms can be picked up year-round from the Allamakee County Economic Development office at 101 West Main Street in Waukon and are also available on the ACED website at www.allamakeecounty.com.
