Plant a Tree on Earth Day

April 22, 2005 marks Earth Day. Founded 35 years ago, the annual celebration educates the public on simple ways to protect the earth's resources. One way to protect the planet this Earth Day is by planting a tree. Trees remove air pollution, reduce energy costs, and add value to home property, not to mention how beautiful they are to look at.

There's no better time than on Earth Day to plant a tree. You can buy a tree or a sappling at your local nursery or lawn-and-garden store. If you live in an urban area or don't have enough room to plant one, you can still grow a tree on a smaller scale. Try putting a tree seed in a cup or planting a seedling in a pot of soil. Then place it in your living room or on a windowsill and watch it grow!
