Police report

During the month of January, the Postville Police Department issued 29 traffic warnings, 8 other and parking warnings, 28 traffic citations, 11 parking citations, 8 accident reports, and 10 incident reports.
Fines collected in January were: Allamakee County $580.80; vehicle inspections $280.00; for a total of $860.80 in fines collected.
Traffic tickets included: expired registration, no DL, stopping on roadway, no insurance, speeding, driving while suspended, child seatbelt, white light to rear, unsafe backing, and failure to yield from stop sign.
In other business the department also: towed in an abandoned vehicle for snow removal; signed gambling permits for raffles (Lions Club, Fire Dept., Catholic Church); did security checks on house of vacationers. There has been an increase of break-ins so the Police Department has been checking more doors in downtown and at other businesses.
There was a report of a juvenile runaway at Hillcrest School. The parents came to town to pick him up.
Adults arrests included: one adult male arrested for assault/willful injury; one adult male arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct (fighting); one adult male charged with domestic assault (simple); one adult male arrested for domestic assault (with injury).
The Police Department assisted the public as follows: 6 open doors found; 11 disturbance calls; 7 family trouble calls; 8 car unlocks; 9 - 911 calls or school alarms; 3 animal complaints; and 3 funeral escorts.
They also assisted with 12 ambulance calls; 2 fire calls, 17 motorist assists; and 19 other department assists.
Miles on police cars for the month of January were as follows: 809 on Crown Victoria; 2,409 on Chevy Impala; and 1,167 on Explorer
