Postville man arrested on meth and other charges

Friday, Jan. 28 Allamakee County Sheriff's officials were attempting to execute a federal arrest warrant pertaining to Grant Mork, age 51, at 311 Pole Line Road, Postville. Mork was not at the residence but deputies observed material used in the manufacture of methamphetamine in plain view. Officers obtained a search warrant for the property and located precursors for making meth, a pipe bomb, bomb-making material and a loaded firearm.
Officers also searched Mork's vehicle, which was located in Guttenberg, and seized precursors for making meth and another loaded firearm. Mork was later arrested without incident in rural Guttenberg by Clayton County Sheriff's officers, who discovered meth and precursors in Mork's possession at that time.
Allamakee County Sheriff's officials were attempting to arrest Mork on a federal indictment resulting from a search warrant executed by Allamakee County officials July 15, 2004. At that time, officers seized a pipe bomb, bomb-making material, meth precursors, a meth lab, and loaded firearms. The Allamakee County Sheriff Office was assisted by the Iowa DNE, State Fire Marshal, Clayton County Sheriff Department and Guttenberg Police. Mork was arraigned in federal court February 2 and is being held without bond.
