Postville Police Report

The Postville Police Department has reported the following activity for the month of June 2009:

Warnings: 26 traffic and 7 other; Citations: 13 traffic and 2 parking; Reports: 8 incident and 3 accident

Fines collected in June: Allamakee County $713.03.Paper service $150. Vehicle inspections: 10 at $20 each for $200. Total for the month: $1,063.03

Citations: (13) Speeding, no seat belt for child, driving while suspended, no driver's license and no insurance

Juvenile arrests or cases: Several juvenile boys dealt with about driving without permission met with parents and resolved the problems.

One juvenile female, work with DHS about custody matters, etc.

Adult arrests: Two adult males arrested for domestic assault charges, simple assault

Three adult males arrested for driving while suspended

One adult male arrested for burglary, breaking into apartment, looking for fight

One adult male arrested for public intox, assault on officers and interference

One adult male charged with criminal mischief, slashing four tires

Assists to the public: 16 family trouble calls, 8 disturbance calls, 9 9-1-1 calls checked out, 4 cars unloced, 12 animal calls (many dog calls), 18 papers served (for eviction notice, 8 for city)

Assists: 6 assists to the ambulance, 3 fire calls, 7 assists to motorists, 8 assists to other departments.

Chief Halse and Trish Bossom have been applying for grants. The chief did a bike safety program and other safety issues program for the boys and girls at the Jewish school.

Nine abandoned vehicles were towed.

Officers assisted the drug task force with search warrant with ongoing investigation they have been working on.
