A pair of Waukon Senior High School seniors, Christina L. Good of Dorchester and Morgan R. Lyons of Lansing, attended Mount Mercy College Scholarship Day January 15 and were each awarded a Holland Presidential Scholarship by Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids.
Students invited to Scholarship Day are distinguished academically. They have a high school grade point average at or above 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or an ACT composite score of 26 or higher. They also have strong records of extracurricular involvement and community service.
During the one-day competition, students interviewed and completed an essay for the opportunity to win a Holland Presidential Scholarship of full tuition. The Holland Presidential Scholarship is named in honor of Mount Mercy's first president Sister Mary Ildephonse Holland and is given in recognition of the highest academic and leadership potential.
