Reminder about terrace maintenance agreements from ACSWCD and NRCS

The Allamakee County Soil and Water Conservation District (ACSWCD) and Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) would like to remind producers who have terraces on their farm that those terraces may fall under a maintenance agreement if they received cost-share funds to install them.
Before modifying a terrace, producers should check with the local office to determine if the terrace falls under a maintenance agreement. Modifications would include removal of terraces or changing the terrace cross-section. Under no condition may intakes be removed and replaced with channel tile. If any alterations take place without approval, producers who received cost-share funds for construction may be forced to pay back monies received.
