Rose Schulte

Rose K. Schulte, 87, of Waukon, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at Northgate Care Center, Waukon. Funeral services were held Friday, February 25 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Waukon, with Fr. Joe Schneider officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Hanson’s Funeral Home, Waukon, was in charge of arrangements.

Rose Kathryn was born August 30, 1917, in Waukon, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Nellie (Quillin) Hancock.

On May 10, 1938, she was united in marriage to Vincent Schulte at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lycurgus.

Rose worked as a cook at St. Pat’s and was also a homemaker.

She loved playing cards and was a great cook. She was a very dedicated mother and loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law, and friends.

She is survived by her children, Thomas of Juneau, Wis., Robert of Burlington, Wis., LaVonne of Waukon, Dan of Des Moines, Matt of Mason, Ohio, and Al of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rita Burke and Jeanne Blocker, both of Waukon.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Fred and Nellie Hancock; a daughter, Sharon Schulte; and two brothers, Vincent and William Hancock.

Honorary casketbearers were Rose’s grandchildren. Casketbearers were Kim Ball, Melissa Nelson, Lyle Erding, Paul Schulte, Scott Schulte, and Luke Schulte.
