School Facilities Committee Meeting Minutes - June 8, 2000

Facilities Advisory Committee
Minutes of June 8, 2000
The Facilities Committee of the Allamakee Community School District met on
Thursday, June 8, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. in the library at the High School.

Members present: Fran Gruenhaupt, Omer Troyer, Arnie Snook, Craig Phipps,
Erin Berns, Fred Smith, James Bieber, Mary Jo Meyer, Scott Melcher, Barb
Melcher, Virgil Thorstenson, Tom Baxter, Greg Morningstar, Jerry Heck,
Kathie Heck, Nancy Walleser, Bruce Kubitz, Larry Dundee, Peggy Perry,
Sandra Ehrhardt, Steve Wiedner, Heidi Hesse, Heidi Anderson, and Norman
Delphy.

Members absent: Dave Mathis, Karen Mathis, Russell Roth, Ron Herman, Joe
Peters, Randy Kruger, and Mary Jo Nordheim.

Also attending was Dennis Mahr.

The committee has proposed six different options based on our assumptions
that have been developed throughout our studies. By committee request, a
Preliminary Facility Improvement Cost Analysis was prepared by
Shive-Hattery, Inc. comparing these six options. This cost analysis
worksheet was reviewed by each committee member. According to figures, if
there was a delay in any repair for the next five years, the "repairs only
costs" would increase from present cost figures of $4,178,000 to
$10,417,000 due to inflation.

After much review and discussion, five different written votes were taken
to find a favorite option of which the committee could agree. Option four
was found to be the most favored.

Mr. Troyer was asked to obtain some clarifications from Shive-Hattery, Inc.
regarding options three and four.

Last, Mrs. Gruenhaupt asked if Erin Berns and Peggy Perry would be willing
to help chair the publicity committee of which they accepted. Also
volunteering was Barb Melcher. They will need lots of help and many more
volunteers to help with this very important task of educating the public
about the committee's findings.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the high
school library. Virgil Thorstenson will chair this meeting.

Respectfully submitted,

Mary Jo Meyer
