Second Session of Reading Discussion Series

The second session of the reading/ discussion series entitled "Immigrant Tales-Then and Now" will be held Tuesday, February 15, 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Postville Multicultural Center. The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros is the book to be discussed. This is a contemporary coming of age story of a young Latino girl growing up in Chicago and her desire to move beyond the low expectations that the world has for her while still embracing her heritage. Participants may purchase the book at Decorah's Bookends and Beans with a discount by calling NICC (800 728 2256 ext 399) by February 4. People may also obtain the book on their own.
The series is exploring the roots in the old country and adjustment in this country of German, Latino, and Eastern European / Russian immigrants. The Postville Diversity Council and NICC are sponsoring the discussions and they are offered free of charge.
