Seeking questions to include in Primary Election questionnaire

Prior to the upcoming Primary Election scheduled for Tuesday, June 5, The Standard will be submitting questionnaires to candidates who are involved in contested races on this year’s Primary ballot. In an effort to base those questions for the candidates on the issues of greatest concern to the people they will be representing, The Standard is asking residents of Allamakee County to submit questions they would like to have considered for inclusion in the Primary questionnaire.
Questions for the candidates must be based on issues and not on personal or private matters. Not all questions will be included on the questionnaire, but all questions will be considered and those appearing with the most frequency will likely be prioritized for inclusion.
Questions for inclusion in the questionnaire may be e-mailed to news@waukonstandard.com, mailed to The Standard, P.O. Box 286, Waukon, IA 52172, or dropped off at The Standard office at 15 First Street NW in Waukon by Monday, May 7. Please indicate which particular race submitted questions may pertain to. Questions must be accompanied by the name and telephone number of the individual submitting them. Those items will simply be used for reference and will not be included on the questionnaire.
Candidates in contested races on the Primary ballot in Allamakee County who will be receiving questionnaires include the following:
• Republican candidates for Allamakee County Sheriff: John Grampovnik and Clark Mellick
• Republican candidates for Allamakee County Auditor: Pam Benjegerdes, Denise Beyer and Lana Deeney Snitker
• Republican candidates for Allamakee County Supervisor: Dan Bechtel and Dennis Koenig
• Republican candidates for United States Representative District 1: Rod Blum and Ben Lange.
Other candidates listed on the Primary ballot who are not involved in contested races will receive a questionnaire prior to any contested races in November’s General Election. Those additional candidates who will also be listed on the June 5 Allamakee County Primary ballot include:
