Sign-up now for youth soccer program sponsored by Waukon Park & Rec

The Waukon Park & Rec Department will host a youth soccer program for children in grades first through sixth during the spring of 2005.

The program will run similarly to the fall flag football program. Games will be played on Saturday mornings. First and second graders will play in a division with third and fourth graders and fifth and sixth graders also combining for competition.

Coaches and sponsors are also needed. Sponsorship is $25 per team.

Since the sport is new to many people in the area, a coaching clinic will be held prior to the start of the season. Volunteer coaches will learn rules of the contest as well as drills to teach youth athletes the skills of soccer.

The department hopes to begin play in April, so forms and player fees need to be returned to Park & Rec director Jeff Snitker, 101 Allamakee St., Waukon IA 52172, as soon as possible.

Late registrations will be accepted, however those participants may not get started with the rest of the players.
