Spell-A-Thon will help schools and Tsunami Relief

East and West Elementary Schools are conducting a Spell-a-Thon for grades K-6 in an effort to raise money for the schools and for the Tsunami relief effort in Southeast Asia. Money pledged to the Spell-a-Thon will be used to buy many needed items for classrooms. Each grade will receive an equal share of the proceeds. This year the students have also decided that they would like a portion of the money earned through this project to be sent to UNICEF for the Tsunami relief efforts in Southeast Asia. Students (with proper supervision for safety reasons) will take the pledge envelope to friends/family/neighbors and write pledges in the appropriate spaces on the envelope including: name, address, and pledge amount per word. Students will take a spelling test April 8. They then will collect the funds for the number of words they spelled correctly.
