Straate named to All-Conference at Luther

Decorah, Iowa – Anne Straate, a junior forward on the Luther College basketball team, has been selected to the 2005 all-Iowa Conference team as a first team honoree.

During the 2004-05 season, Straate made an immediate impact for the Norse, leading the team in scoring (12.7 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg). She completed the 16-game Iowa Conference schedule ranked eighth in the league in scoring (11.3), seventh in rebounding (6.6), 11th in field goal percentage connecting on 45 percent of her attempts (68-151), and ninth with a free throw percentage of 76 percent (44-61).

As a team, the Norse posted their 19th consecutive winning season with an overall record of 18-8. Luther finished third in the Iowa Conference race with a mark of 11-5.

Straate is a 2002 graduate of Postville High School, and is the daughter of Stan and Mary Straate of Postville, IA.

Luther College is a four-year liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and is located in Decorah, Iowa. The Norse compete in 10 men's and nine women's intercollegiate sports. As a member of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) since 1922, the men have won 133 conference championships. In 1982 the IIAC expanded its championship sponsorship to include women's sports. During this time span, the women have won 44 team titles. Combined, the Norse have captured an unprecedented 177 IIAC titles.
