STUDENTS COMPETE AT INVENT IOWA CONVENTION

On Sunday, April 2, the Invent Iowa State Convention was held at the Iowa Memorial Union on the University of Iowa campus in Iowa City. Over 325 Iowa students exhibited the best student inventions from around the state.
An invention convention was held January 27 at East Elementary in Waukon. Students then advanced to the Keystone AEA Invention Convention in Elkader. Students from this area advancing from Elkader were Brittany Wood and Allison Martin with their refrigerator organizer invention and Nic Lloyd and Hans Walleser with their EZ Feed invention.
The State Invention Convention is sponsored by the Colleges of Engineering at the University of Iowa and Iowa State University, and the Connie Belin and Jacqueline N. Blank Center for Gifted and Talent Development.
At the State Invention, inventors and their families were invited to view the inventions and to attend the workshops and tours of the College of Engineering. A recognition ceremony was held where each student received a Certificate of Recognition for Innovative Excellence and an Invent Iowa T-shirt.
