Ted Troendle

Theodore “Ted” Troendle, age 89, of Lansing, Iowa, died February 15, 2005, at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Funeral services were held Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing with Fr. Daniel Knipper officiating. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery in Lansing. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing was in charge of arrangements.

Ted was born at the family home on Faegre Prairie (rural Lansing) on March 8, 1915, to George and Frances (Rettinger) Troendle.

He married Minnie Peterson December 31, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa. He and Minnie farmed on Faegre Prairie until retiring and moving to Lansing. He loved to fish and hunt coon. When he was young he did a lot of dancing. He was a member of the Catholic Order of the Foresters and was a 4-H leader.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie Troendle of Lansing; four children, Tom (Betty) Troendle of Harpers Ferry, Jerry (Norma) Troendle of Lansing, Bob (Kay) Troendle of Lansing, and Bonnie (Leon “Bud”) Mohn of Lansing; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Cornelius “Nig” (Lucille) Troendle of Waterloo, Theresa Drake of Albuquerque, N.M., and Ann Mathis of Waukon; and two sisters-in-law, Gladys Troendle and Rita Troendle, both of Lansing.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Marsha Troendle; one great-grandson, Jessie Ideker; and five siblings, Silas, Harold, Carl, and Richard Troendle, and Louise Sweeney.

Honorary casketbearers were Teresa Brown, Jean Ideker, Denise Schmelzer, Vicki Troendle, Jennifer Davis, Tiffany Troendle, Stacy Walleser, and Shannon Mohn. Casketbearers were Ron Troendle, Glenn Troendle, Darrell Troendle, Rick Troendle, Larry Troendle, and Brian Troendle.
