TWO "CRAZY" HOT DAYS, BUT THE SHOPPING WAS GOOD

Even the heat steaming off downtown sidewalks couldn't keep folks from turning out at Waukon's annual Crazy Days, held July 14 and 15.
Local business owners report that while the crowd numbers seemed a bit less than last year, their sales totals remained level with previous years. That translates to a smaller pool of buyers finding more good deals apiece.
New this season are business remarks concerning the number of in-store sales vs. those searching for bargains outdoors. Owners report their stores remaining busy both inside and out this year. Apparently, what was out on the sidewalk was good enough to get us indoors.
Cooling off shoppers at this year's event was Waukon State Bank, serving over ten watermelons, and the Main Feature, with cold pop and a quick slice of pizza.
