Waukon Fire Department responds to lone call; blaze claims machine shed

The Waukon Fire Department was called out on just one occasion this past week, but to a very significant blaze that destroyed some farm property in rural Waukon. The summons was received at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31 at 1530 Trout Road east of Waukon, where a machine shed had caught fire.
By the time the department arrived, the building was completely engulfed and burned to a total loss, along with its contents. A motorhome parked alongside the shed was also badly damaged in the blaze. Department volunteers were on the scene for approximately three hours.
