Board of Supervisors holds brief regular session Monday

During a brief regular meeting of the Allamakee County Board of Supervisors Monday morning, September 16, Allamakee County Auditor Denise Beyer reported that recently purchased ballot tabulation machines performed well during the recent school election. She also recommended the future purchase of "electronic pollbooks" that were recently tested, saying that the machines simplify the voter check-in process for poll workers and increase the confidence of both the poll workers and the voters. She said the cost of the equipment would be approximately $24,000 ($2,000 for each of 12 voting sites in the county).
In other business, the Board accepted Bob Beach's resignation from the Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission Board.
The Board reconvened Monday evening at 7 p.m. for a public forum on the future of Makee Manor, the report of which will appear in next week's issue of The Standard.
