Gipp, Zieman to host legislative forum in Harpers Ferry Saturday
State Representative Chuck Gipp and State Senator Mark Zieman will hold a legislative forum this Saturday, March 19 at 9 a.m. in Harpers Ferry at the Harpers Cafe. Area residents are invited to meet with Gipp and Zieman to discuss local or broader issues.


Froelich Tractor to be featured in Effigy Mounds film this weekend
Effigy Mounds National Monument continues its 42nd annual film festival this weekend with a pair of films featuring the Froelich Tractor and the Froelich Store.
John Froelich built the world’s first gasoline tractor in Froelich, IA in Clayton County, and these two films will explore some of the background and history that surrounds this monumentously important invention.
Show times for the film will be every hour from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 19 and 20. There will also be a 1 p.m. showing Monday, March 21. This week’s display will feature items from the Froelich Foundation and Museum located in Froelich.

Allamakee Dollars for Scholars to hold April 15 breakfast event
Allamakee Dollars for Scholars will hold a Recognition Breakfast Friday, Apr. 15 at 7:30 a.m. in the Waukon Senior High School Cafeteria. The breakfast is being held to thank individual and group donors - all of whom are invited to the event, and to introduce student applicants - who, along with their parents, will be special guests.
Reservations are not necessary for the breakfast, but would be appreciated and may be made with Amy Wasson at 568-3466 or Julie Rotach at 568-3754.
