Third annual Dairy Showcase Event is Thursday in Calmar

The third annual Dairy Showcase Event is slated to be held this Thursday, March 10 at the Dairy Center for the Northeast Iowa Community Based Dairy Foundation in Calmar. The event is targeted to all dairy producers - active, potential, or retired; bankers and lenders; agribusiness leaders; and any interested individuals. There is no charge for the event.

Scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., the event will feature many display booths of area agriculture-related businesses and programs. Break-out educational workshop sessions will be offered to a wide array of participants. Topics of focus in those sessions include:

•Milk quality and production

•Iowa Dairy Industry Development

•Do you need a dry period?

•Bovine Viral Diarrhea - The connection to abortions and vaccination updates.

•Boumatic - What’s new?

During lunch, Mark Hotvedt will recap the Dairy Foundation’s California trip that took place in February. Barb Sauser and Jim Hosch of ISU Extension will also give an update on the success of Iowa’s Dairy Story at the Dairy Center.

A reception will conclude the event, including the welcoming of new leadership to the Northeast Iowa Community Based Dairy Foundation and its partners, Northeast Iowa Community College and Iowa State University Extension.
