Iowa DNR to host public meeting on deer depredation this Wednesday
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will be holding a deer depredation public meeting Wednesday, March 9 at 1 p.m. in Waukon at the Allamakee County Farm Bureau Building meeting room.
Iowa DNR Biologists will conduct the informational meeting on deer management, population surveys, and the deer depredation program. The public is invited to attend to learn more about deer management. Time will be allowed for questions to be asked by attendees.

“America’s Scenic Rail Journeys” is feature film at Effigy Mounds
Effigy Mounds National Monument continues its 42nd annual film festival this weekend with another segment of “America’s Scenic Rail Journeys”. This month’s installment is entitled “The Coast Starlight”, which travels the Pacific coastline from Los Angeles, CA to Seattle, WA.
Show times for the film will be every hour from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 12 and 13. There will also be a 1 p.m. showing Monday, March 14. This week’s art display will feature hand-blown glasswork from Felicity Arts of Waterville.

Disabled American Veterans meeting set for March 16
The Disabled American Veterans Hamre-Giesen Chapter #8 holds monthly meetings at the All Vets Club in Decorah, beginning at 11 a.m. The meeting for March will be held Wednesday, March 16. Allamakee Dollars for Scholars to hold April 15 breakfast event
Allamakee Dollars for Scholars will hold a Recognition Breakfast Friday, Apr. 15 at 7:30 a.m. in the Waukon Senior High School Cafeteria. The breakfast is being held to thank individual and group donors, and to introduce student applicants.
