Freshman boys win three of four

Waukon’s freshman boys basketball squad pieced together a successful run near the end of the season. The Indians downed South Winn, Prairie du Chien, and Charles City before suffering an eight-point loss to Decorah.

Friday, Feb. 4, Waukon upended South Winn by a 54-48 final score.

Colin Egan led the Indians with 17 points, nine rebounds, and three steals.

Ryan Anderson finished with 12 points, five boards, and two steals.

Jacob Jannsen added a pair of steals in the win.

Monday, Feb. 7, the Indians scored another victory, this time a 41-29 win over Prairie du Chien.

Nick Kruger’s 11 points paced Waukon and Egan also reached double figures with ten points.

Egan paced his squad with seven steals and six rebounds.

Anderson and Kruger each grabbed five boards.

Waukon’s freshman corps had their work cut out for them Tuesday, Feb. 8 when they faced Charles City. The Comets pushed Waukon to the wire, but the Tribe prevailed by a 43-41 count.

Kruger and Egan led the way with 12 and ten points, respectively.

Tyler Hanson ripped down a team-high six rebounds and Egan, Kruger, and Marcus Tweedy had four boards each.

Anderson had four steals and Egan grabbed three.

Decorah snapped the Tribe’s win streak Thursday, Feb. 10, handing the Indians a 48-40 loss.

Egan and Tweedy paced the offense with respective totals of ten and eight points.

As a team, the Indians outrebounded the Vikings by a 38-19 margin. Hanson pounded the glass for ten rebounds and Tweedy grabbed seven. Logan Anderson, Ryan Anderson, and Kruger each registered five.

Egan snagged seven steals in the loss.
