Letter to the Standard's Editor

To the Editor:

Camp Tahigwa is my favorite place in the world! While growing up in Waukon, I was very active in Girl Scouts and attended Tahigwa as a camper (as soon as I was old enough) and then made the transition to Camp Counselor and worked there all through high school.

Back then, you earned “camp credit” for the cookies you sold. And I always enjoyed hitting the streets and earning my way to camp each year. As a young adult, I continued by volunteering to run Winter Carnivals at Tahigwa, even while living in Des Moines. It wasn’t until I moved to the west coast that I stopped.

My nieces have attended Tahigwa and I hope one summer my two girls can attend Camp Tahigwa. Their Girl Scout camp in California is on 30 acres!

I continue to be involved in Girls Scouts. I am a Council Trainer here in our council and also a Leader for each of my girls’ troops.

Camp Tahigwa stays with you your whole life.
