Allamakee SWCD to host November 27 meetings on new Conservation Lease Project

All Allamakee County farm landowners and renters are invited by the Allamakee County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) to attend one of two public meetings about the new Conservation Lease Project. The meetings will be held Tuesday, November 27 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank Community Room in Waukon.
Ed Cox from the Drake University Agricultural Law Center will assist in leading the meetings, which will cover topics such as lease types, landlord-tenant law, and how to include conservation in leases. Sara Berges of the Allamakee SWCD will be coordinating the Conservation Lease Project, which focuses on helping landowners include conservation requirements in their farm leases.
This is just an informational meeting. No attendees will be required to participate in the lease project, but we would like to see who might be interested. Refreshments will be provided. The meetings should each take less than an hour.
