Cattlemen's Association to crown Beef Queen, Princess Saturday

Two area young ladies are vying for the crowns of the first-ever Allamakee County Cattlemen's Association Beef Queen and Beef Princess this Saturday, November 3. The coronation event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Association's Purple Ribbon Prospect Sale being held at Northeast Iowa Sales Commission north of Waukon. A pair of Waukon High School juniors, Lexie Bieber and Carli Quandahl, are the lone candidates vying for this year's inaugural Beef Royalty honors. Their biographies are printed below:

Lexie Bieber
Lexie Bieber is the daughter of Ed and Amy Bieber of Waukon. She is a junior at Waukon High School, where she actively participates in Waukon Varsity Cheerleading. Lexie is also a member of the All-American Cheer Team, All-Star Cheer Squad, Honor Squad, School Honor Roll, Student Council and American Legion.
Lexie is a member of St. Patrick Church in Waukon and participates in the church choir. She is also active in the Allamakee County 4-H County Council as President and involved with the Youth Committee as a voice for county youth. She serves as Vice President for her 4-H club, West Ridge Riders, and enjoys showing Registered Angus at the Allamakee County Fair, Big Four Fair, Bremer County Fair and the Iowa State Fair. Lexie currently participates in the Little Switzerland FFA Chapter at Waukon High School, serving as Historian. She is also a member of the Allamakee County Cattlemen and Iowa Angus Association, and was awarded Allamakee County Beef Champion honors for 2011.
Lexie plans to attend a four-year college to get a bachelor degree in Elementary Education with a minor in coaching. She hopes to return to the Allamakee County area to get a teaching job or coaching job and hopefully farm. She would also like to be involved in the youth 4-H program after returning from college.
Lexie enjoys helping her family and their business of raising beef cattle and private treaty beef sales. She is sponsored by Waukon Veterinary Service and Select Sires of Waukon.

Carli Quandahl
Carli Quandahl is the daughter of Adam and Julie Quandahl of Waukon. She attends Waukon High School as a junior and serves on Student Council. She has been involved in 4-H for eight years and currently serves as Vice President for the West Ridge Riders 4-H Club, as well as on the Activities Committee.
Carli has been a member of the Little Switzerland FFA Chapter at Waukon High School for the past three years and currently serves as the Chapter Reporter, as well as on the Membership Development Committee. Outside of 4-H and FFA, Carli is also a member of the Chianina Association, Shorthorn Association, Allamakee County Cattlemen, and the Iowa Junior Beef Breeders Association. Carli exhibits at many beef shows including the Allamakee County Fair, Northland Classic, Big 4 Fair and the Iowa Beef Expo.
Carli is also a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, where she serves as lector during church services, and she also participates on the Big Pumpkin Contest Committee. Carli plans on attending college and majoring in Ag Business. She hopes to find a job locally as well as continue growing her herd and raising show cattle. Carli is sponsored by Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association of Baraboo, WI, Jet’s Meat Processing of Waukon, Village Farm & Home of Waukon, and Waukon Veterinary Service.
