FreedomBank robbery suspect still at large following Friday morning robbery in Postville

Postville’s FreedomBank was  the victim of a bank robbery Friday, August 17 minutes after the bank opened for business. According to a report from the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office, the robbery took place at 8:27 a.m. when a male individual entered the bank and demanded cash.
A male individual, wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses, entered the back door of the bank from the alley,  approached a teller and forced her to the ground while taking an undetermined amount of cash.
The suspect  then fled out the back door, running eastbound in the alley. A photograph of the suspect was caught on the bank’s surveillance camera (right).
There was no weapon displayed and no one was injured during the incident. The Sheriff’s department emphasized that the public is in no danger and the department is following up on all leads.
The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion  whose height  is between 5’6’’ and 5’9”. His weight is approximated between 160-170 pounds.
Among those responding to the incident were Postville Police officers, members of the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Department, the Iowa State Highway Patrol and Federal officials.
As of Monday morning, August 20, Postville Police Chief Mike Halse said no new leads have been received and the thief is still at large.
Although the bank was closed most of the day Friday, regular hours were resumed Monday morning.
