The championship round of the Class 1A District 6 Baseball Tournament scheduled for this Saturday, July 14 and featuring a match-up between Kee and Turkey Valley has been changed from its original site and will now be played at Waukon High School's baseball field. The game had originally been scheduled to be played at Oelwein, but the closer proximity of Waukon's field to the two teams playing in the finals initiated a move to Waukon.
The game will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature the third match-up of the season between this season's two Upper Iowa Conference co-leaders. Kee comes off of a first-round district victory over Postville, 15-5, Tuesday, July 10 and a 5-1 victory over Dunkerton in the semifinals Thursday, July 12. Turkey Valley has posted district tournament wins of 11-1 in five innings over Starmont Tuesday, July 10 and 15-5 in five innings over Edgewood-Colesburg Thursday, July 12.
Saturday's winner will advance on to Substate play Tuesday, July 17 at New Hampton, beginning at 7 p.m. That Substate opponent could either be Mason City Newman or North Butler, with the Substate winner then advancing on to this year's Class 1A State Tournament.
