HELEN MELLICK

Helen Mellick, 88, of Waukon, died June 5, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon.
Funeral services were held June 9, 2000, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Waukon with Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg conducting. Burial took place at Mt Olivet Cemetery in Waukon.
Helen Marie Mellick was born Feb. 7, 1912, in rural Allamakee County to Charles and Sarah “Sadie” Kilpatrick.
On April 23, 1935, she married Urban “Jake” Mellick at the St. John’s Baptist Catholic Church, West Ridge, in rural Waukon. She and her husband farmed northwest of Waukon from 1935 until 1966 upon which they moved into the city of Waukon. The couple belonged to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Helen was a member of the St. Jude’s Study Club and the Allamakee County Farm Bureau.
She is survived by two sons, James (Ellen) Mellick and Thomas (Mary) Mellick, both of Waukon; her brother, Edward Kilpatrick, Longmont, CO; and sisters Lorna Howe, Leona Drew and Mary Howes, all of Waukon.
Preceeding her in death were three brothers, John “Jack” Kilpatrick, Harry Kilpatrick and Charles Kilpatrick.
Pall bearers included grandchildren David, Richard, Clark, Todd, Thomas, Michael, Kevin, Scott and Craig Mellick.
Hanson Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family.
