THOSE RETIRING MUST STILL EXERCISE

Once a person retires, they must keep up with their exercise, incorporating it as part of a new daily routine. Just because seniors don't have to go to work anymore does not mean they no longer must exercise. In fact, it's more important now than ever.
Exercise at any age increases the oxygen capacity in the lungs. The more a person exercises, the better oxygen capacity they have, providing more energy and better overall physical fitness. Without any type of exercise, the elderly may find everyday tasks next to impossible. But even a small amount of modest exercise can help an older person remain much more active and younger feeling.
Older persons tend to gain more from exercise than younger people do. Their rate of gain in health, fitness, muscle strength and energy are much greater than what younger people experience. And as for everyone, exercise helps to lower bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol and aids in weight control and blood pressure management, among other positives such as giving someone a healthy, energetic lifestyle.
As stated earlier, even moderate exercise can do an older person wonders. Walking is very good aerobic activity that does not require a great deal of energy or expense, and it is most convenient.
Many older individuals in this community do enjoy attending the Veterans Memorial Hospital Healthy Lifestyles Center. Many retired individuals have purchased memberships to the center and enjoy working out on the exercise equipment and tread mills each morning. It's a great time for socializing while getting some very beneficial exercise as well.
