Helen Tangen

Helen Tangen, 94, of Chatfield, MN died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, MN. A funeral service was held Monday, January 18 at Root Prairie Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mark Docken of Chatfield Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Root Prairie Cemetery.
Helen was born November 18, 1921 on a farm in Pilot Mound Township in Fillmore County in Minnesota to Frederick and Leda (Rain) Storm. April 17, 1943 Helen married Orville Tangen in McMinnville, TN.
Helen was a lifetime member of Root Prairie Lutheran Church, where she served as Sunday school superintendent,  treasurer and teacher.  She was also a member of  WELCA, serving as secretary and treasurer. She was a 62-year member of the Fountain Legion Auxiliary and 4H leader.
Helen is lovingly remembered by her husband, Orville; four children: Robert (Sue Sandberg) Tangen of Plainview, MN, Dianne (Del) Jones, of Aitkin, MN, Sharon (John) Dowd of Duluth, MN and Marlene (Dennis) Blocker of Waukon; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great granddaughters. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Francis Strom.
