Herbert Bailey, Jr.

Herbert John "Herb" Bailey, Jr., age 61, of rural Wapello died Friday morning, May 5, 2017 at his home. As per his wishes, cremation will be fulfilled. A Celebration of Life will be held later.

The son of Herbert John and Mary Ellen Ellefson Bailey, he was born October 18, 1955 in La Crosse, WI. Herb married Janice Wykert December 3, 1976 in Oakville.  She preceded him in death March 8, 2011. He married Rhonda Lolling August 28, 2015 in Nashua.

Herb grew up and attended Kee High School in Lansing. He retired from JI Case in Burlington and was currently working for Sinclair Tractor in Sperry. He was a member of the UAW Local 807.

Herb enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. He had done commercial fishing and diving for clams. He had also played baseball in early years. He loved his grandkids.

His family includes his wife, Rhonda; his mother, Mary Christoffer of Lansing; two sons, BJ (Laura) Bailey and Josh (Katie) Bailey, all of Mediapolis; three grandchildren, Camryn, Avery and Brynlee; four sisters, Barb Fore of Lansing, Mary Rose Hoehne of Galveston, TX, Sherry Christoffer of Iowa City and Ann Christoffer of Viola, WI; and a brother, Mike Bailey of Lansing. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Herbert; his first wife, Janice; his stepfather, Laverne ‘Chris’ Christoffer; and a brother, Gary.
