Huge crowd enjoys Veterans Memorial Hospital Family Wellness Fair May 11

The annual “Family Wellness Fair” was held Wednesday, May 11 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Over 400 individuals attended the wellness fair and enjoyed all the information and activities provided by over 40 agencies and businesses that serve Allamakee County. The “Family Wellness Fair” is held in conjunction with the hospital’s “In Step with VMH” Community Wellness program.
Veterans Memorial Hospital sponsored a health fair at the event and offered many free health tests, assessments and information throughout the evening. Both the Franciscan Skemp and Gundersen Lutheran Waukon Clinics were in attendance as well. Nutritious snacks were offered compliments of the hospital’s Nutrition Services department.
Entertainment was provided by Klyde Thinger the Clown and Paul Kammarmeyer of Dubuque as “Greenie” the balloon artist, who provided balloon art at the main entrance.  The Waukon Fire Department also supplied the “Smoke Trailer” for children to view as they entered the fair. In addition, wellness demonstrations were given in the Healthy Lifestyles Rehabilitation Center.  Dani Bucknell of the Waukon Wellness Center demonstrated Zumba, Amy Welch demonstrated Kettlebells and Joan David and her class demonstrated Tae Kwon Do.
This family event is held each Spring and is free and open to all members of the area communities.
