In what turned out to be its only competition of this past week, the Kee girls track team was locked in some epic battles with fellow Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) squad Turkey Valley in the Lady Hawks’ only home meet of this season Thursday, April 22. The Kee girls were also slated to compete at Crestwood Tuesday, April 20 but had that meet canceled due to cold, windy weather.
The ultimate battle between the long-time UIC rivals was in the final team score, where Turkey Valley edged out the Kee girls by just a single point, 116-115. It was the visiting Trojans’ depth that helped them claim this year’s Kee Invitational title, as they had 19 young ladies score points, in comparison to 13 Lady Hawks scoring, including four Turkey Valley girls who scored just a single point.
The Lady Hawks were next scheduled to take part in the Clayton Ridge Invitational Tuesday, April 27 and then travel to Monona for the MFL/MarMac Invitational Thursday, April 29. The Kee girls will then compete at Edgewood-Colesburg Monday, May 3 before taking part in the Upper Iowa Conference Meet Thursday, May 6 at North Fayette Valley in West Union. The Hawks will then prepare for their Class 1A State Qualifying Meet at Edgewood-Colesburg Thursday, May 13.
