Larry Larson

Larry James Larson, 62, of Harpers Ferry passed away May 20, 2024 in Lusk, WY. A celebration of life will be held June 30 from 2-5 p.m. at Portside, located at 125 Jefferson Avenue, Harpers Ferry. Military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Memorials may be sent to the Larson family at 548 State Hwy. 76, Harpers Ferry, IA 52146.

Larry was born April 20, 1962 in Waukon to Lawrence I. Larson and Joanne A. (Iverson) Larson. He was baptized, and later confirmed May 29, 1977, at the Old West Paint Creek Church in Waterville. He graduated from Waukon Senior High School, Class of 1980, and went on to serve five years in the U.S. Navy aboard one of the Navy’s top destroyer tenders, the USS Sierra. Larry wore the title of Boatswain’s Mate.

Larry was the owner/operator of Larson Trucking Company and a member of the American Legion, Scenic Post 722 in Harpers Ferry. Larry was very devoted to the well-being of his family and adored being a grandfather immensely. He enjoyed his motorcycles, fishing and his friendships both far and wide. Larry was well respected and valued as a leader in his industry and loved by many.

Larry is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his loving father, Lawrence I. Larson; his uncles, Virgil Larson, Melvin Larson and Charles Georgeson; his aunt, Dolly Georgeson; and a niece, Heather Spencer.

Larry is survived by his mother, Joanne A. (Iverson) Larson; a fiancee, Jennifer Offutt of Flagstaff, AZ; his children and grandchildren: Larry (Sasha) Abrams and children Ayden, Avery and Austin of Magnolia, TX, Jimmy Larson and children Madden, Kylar and Linley of Dallas, TX, Lukas (Kayla) Larson and children Lucas, Scarlet and Rylee of Harpers Ferry, Lars Larson of Waterville, and Kacey Larson of Jerome, AZ; his sisters: Laurie (Carrol) McCracken of Nevada, Lisa (Alan) Schultz of Fairbanks, AK, Lynn (Tom) Felkey of State Center, and Pam Larson of Decorah; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
