Kee softball team one inning away from undefeated week, sweeps Central Elkader at home, splits two games at Riceville Tournament

One late inning in its first game of the Riceville Tournament over the weekend kept the Kee softball team from putting all four of its games this past week into the win column, as the Lady Hawks won three of those contests to currently hold a 4-8 season record that has them off to a 2-0 start in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play. Those two UIC wins came at home Wednesday, June 5 when Kee’s diamond dwellers swept Central Elkader by mercy-rule scores of 12-0 in three innings and 10-0 in six innings. The Lady Hawks wrapped up their week splitting two games at the Riceville Tournament Saturday, June 8, first falling to St. Ansgar by a 5-1 result after a sixth-inning Saint outburst but then regrouping for a 6-3 win over the tournament host.
The Lady Hawks were next scheduled to play at Postville Monday, June 10 and at Marquette Catholic Tuesday, June 11 before hosting Clayton Ridge Wednesday, June 12 and then playing in the two-day West Delaware Invitational Tournament in Manchester Friday and Saturday, June 14-15. They will then remain on the road the entire next week, playing at MFL/MarMac Monday, June 17, at Turkey Valley Wednesday, June 19 and at Waverly-Shell Rock Thursday, June 20.
