Little Switzerland FFA Ag Mechanics team claims fifth place at State ...

April 24, three members of the Little Switzerland FFA chapter at Waukon High School participated in the District Agriculture Mechanics career development event (CDE) at the Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) campus in Calmar. The team, which included Ethan Gibbs, Ryan Kolsrud and Drake Hankes, achieved a 15th-place finish out of 39 teams. Individually, Ethan Gibbs placed 11th, Ryan Kolsrud 36th, and Drake Hankes 89th at that District level of competition.

At the State competition held June 6 in Ames, the team of (left to right in submitted photo above) Ethan Gibbs, Ryan Kolsrud and John Marti found success in several areas, placing 6th in problem solving, 5th in structural systems, 2nd in environmental/natural resources systems, and 10th in metals and welding systems. Additionally, the team demonstrated its skills in electrical systems and machinery/equipment systems.
