Kee girls basketball team wraps up regular season with 53-41 home win over Spring Grove, MN, begins postseason with 58-30 triumph over Clayton Ridge

The Kee girls basketball team both ended its regular season and began its postseason in successful fashion this past week, continuing what has now become an eight-game winning streak to also continue its season further into the Class 1A Region 5 tournament bracket. The end to the Lady Hawks’ regular season featured a 53-41 home win over Spring Grove, MN Tuesday, February 11 before Kee’s bucket brigade began regional tournament play Thursday, February 13 with a 58-30 dominance of fellow Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) squad Clayton Ridge.

The Kee girls now hold a 17-6 season record consisting of a 13-3 mark in Upper Iowa Conference play that leaves them in third place in the final UIC standings behind the shared conference championship between MFL/MarMac and Turkey Valley and their final UIC records of 14-2. Those two squads had split their two league match-ups throughout this past season, with the Hawks handing each of them their only other UIC loss with their own two-game split with each of them during this 2024-2025 campaign while also falling to North Fayette Valley one time as well.

The Kee girls were next scheduled to continue their postseason quest with another home game in Class 1A Region 5 Tournament play Tuesday, February 18 against UIC co-champion Turkey Valley at 7 p.m., with the winner advancing on to a Friday, February 21 Region 5 semifinals match-up at Riceville against either the fifth-rated host Wildcats or Janesville, also at 7 p.m. The winner of that semifinals bout will then play for the right to advance to the Class 1A State Tournament in a Wednesday, February 26 Region 5 championship game to be played at 7 p.m. at a site to be determined and against either 10th-rated East Buchanan, Edgewood-Colesburg, Dunkerton or Clarksville.
