Sam Johnson

Sam W. Johnson, 27, of Madison, WI, formerly of Waukon, died Monday, February 10, 2025, at his home. Memorial services were held Monday, February 17 at Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon, with Pastor Bryan Robertson officiating. Burial was at St. Patrick Cemetery-Hanover, rural Waukon.

Samuel Wayne Johnson was born June 3, 1997, in Waukon, the son of Wayne Johnson and Denise Ward. He was baptized at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon and graduated from Waukon High School in 2016. Throughout his life, Sam worked at TASC, Inc. in Waukon, where he was very passionate about his work and built many friendships. After moving to Madison, WI, he worked as a foreman for a fencing company.

Sam was very talented and loved many types of music. He could play just about any instrument and particularly enjoyed playing the guitar. Sam was a lover of animals, especially his dog Tango and cat Maisy. He loved spending time with friends and family, trying new food, watching movies, and reading comic books.

Sam was very adventurous and loved trying new things. He had many different collections and was very passionate about his interests. He was an amazing son, brother, and friend to all who knew him.

Survivors include his dad, Wayne Johnson of Waukon; three siblings: Molly (Dakota) Hawes of Waukon, Bobby (Lori) Johnson, and Amy (Doug) Lenzendorf; his grandfather, Gary Ward; his girlfriend, Silke Van Der Weide; his nieces and nephews: Cameron and Colton Johnson, Dawson and Drew Lenzendorf, Lennyn Hawes and Baby Hawes on the way; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Denise, in 2020; his grandmother, Ramona Ward; and his grandparents, Roger and Norma Johnson.
