Starting and ending this past week in non-conference play and getting its Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) schedule underway in between, the Waukon softball team put one of this past week’s six games in the win column. Opening the week with a 13-9 win at Central Elkader Monday, June 2, the Lady Indians hosted Crestwood Wednesday, June 4 and fell by scores of 13-5 and 12-2 before also falling at Decorah by a 5-0 result for a winless start to their NEIC campaign. Two non-conference games played in the North Fayette Valley Invitational Saturday, June 7 also resulted in losses, 6-3 to Turkey Valley and 17-0 in three innings to Class 2A ninth-rated Osage.
Currently holding a 2-7 season record that includes a 0-3 start to its Northeast Iowa Conference schedule, the Lady Indians were next scheduled to host New Hampton Tuesday, June 10 and Charles City Thursday, June 12. They will then play at South Winneshiek Tuesday, June 17 and at Crestwood Thursday, June 19 before competing in the West Delaware Invitational Friday and Saturday, June 20-21.
