Waukon boys basketball team’s split of pair of district tournament games includes 76-34 home win over Postville and 80-57 loss at Crestwood to have season ended

The Waukon boys basketball team had a pair of postseason opportunities in front of them this past week, making the most of the first of those to obtain the second, which ultimately proved to be the end of the bucket Tribe’s 2025-2026 season. The Indians opened their Class 2A District 7 Tournament scoring one of their highest point totals of the season in a 76-34 home triumph over Postville Monday, February 16. That win advanced Waukon’s boys to the District 7 semifinals where they were matched up Thursday, February 19 for the third time this season with a Crestwood squad that had beaten them twice during the regular season, surrendering their highest point total of this season in suffering that same fate in postseason play with an 80-57 loss that brought the Tribe’s season to an end.

The Indians wrapped up their 2025-2026 campaign with an 18-6 season record that includes a mark of 13-3 that landed them in third place in the final UIC Large School team standings behind South Winneshiek’s 14-2 UIC mark and the 15-1 UIC record compiled by Crestwood. With their semifinals win over the Indians, the Cadets will now face Aplington-Parkersburg in the District 7 championship game Tuesday, February 24, with that winner advancing on to the Substate 4 championship contest to be played Saturday, February 28 for the right to advance to this year’s Class 2A State Tournament.
